LONDON: Hat Trick International (HTI) has closed deals for Emporium Productions’ Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons and has also taken distribution rights for the company’s new series Inside the Freemasons.

The four-part series Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons was sold into Belgium (Medialaan), Denmark (DR), Finland (MTV Oy), Germany (Welt N24), Norway (SBS Discovery) and Sweden (TV4). Further pickups include Poland and pan-Africa (BBC Brit), Australia (Channel Nine) and New Zealand (Prime). Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons, produced by Emma Read of Emporium Productions, sees Paul Connolly go behind bars in some of the most notorious prisons.

In addition, Hat Trick International secured distribution rights to Emporium Productions’ Inside the Freemasons, which it will bring to MIPCOM in October. The four-part observational documentary, which has been commissioned for Sky 1, takes a look at the organization in the run-up to its 300th anniversary.

Sarah Tong, the director of sales at Hat Trick International, said, “With its gripping and truly ‘behind-the-scenes’ insight into prison life, Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons, our first series from Emporium Productions, has quickly proved a hit on the global stage. We’re excited to continue our partnership with the distribution of Inside the Freemasons. Offering exclusive access to an organization we all know, yet actually know very little about, this new series promises to be a fascinating watch and we’re confident it will prove equally popular in the international market.”
