A+E Networks UK and A+E Networks International have ordered a brand-new run of the true-crime series Evil Up Close from FirstLook TV.

Evil Up Close takes an in-depth look at the vicious killers that people least suspected through the eyes of those who believed they knew them. It features emotionally-charged interviews as it follows ten new murder cases with the help of detectives, prosecutors and family members directly involved. It’s slated to premiere on Crime+Investigation in the U.K. in January 2020.

A FirstLook TV production for A+E Networks UK, Evil Up Close is returning to screens following a four-year hiatus. A+E Networks International will distribute the series internationally.

Will Hanrahan, founder and creative director of FirstLook TV, said: “Evil Up Close’s longevity is a testament to the skill of the team that has worked on it, since 2011. The series has been seen the world over as countless True Crime channels have chosen it. There’s been a real clamor for it to return and we are pleased to be trusted with such a successful title and working with our friends at A+E Networks UK and A+E International.”

Diana Carter, commissioning editor and head of talent at A+E Networks UK, commented: “We are pleased to bring another unmissable series of Evil Up Close back to Crime+Investigation. In keeping with our strategy to deliver trusted and authentic U.K. content, these new episodes retain a keen focus on the essence of true crime which puts storytelling through the lens of those closely impacted center stage.”
