The Honey Trap: A True Story of Love, Lies and the FBI is set to bow on Showtime and on Paramount+ with the Showtime plan on December 6.

The documentary follows Berlin rapper Denis Cuspert, aka Desi Dogg, and his journey from artist to MMA fighter to ISIS recruiter. When the FBI assigns translator Daniella to monitor him, her mission to get close to him takes over her life.

The documentary is produced by Showtime Studios and Vespucci and directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Chris Moukarbel (Banksy Does New York, Gaga: Five Foot Two). It is executive produced by Ricky Lloyd George, Hans Charles, Karam Ghossein and Emily Dische-Becker and produced by Chris Moukarbel, Birdie Bischoff, Daniel Turcan and Johnny Galvin for Vespucci. Nina L. Diaz is an executive producer for Showtime Studios.

“When people hear the story of Daniella and Denis, they often ask if it’s fiction,” Moukarbel said. “In a way, their story lives at the crossroads of military power and entertainment culture.”
