Viaplay Slates New Football Doc

Viaplay has unveiled Sport vs Money with Simon Jordan, a four-part series exploring how money is reshaping the sport.

Jordan, a former Premier League club owner, hosts the series, which is set to premiere on the Viaplay platform on August 12 in the Nordics and the Netherlands, with Viaplay Content Distribution handling international sales. It sees Jordan traveling the globe, hearing from contributors such as Arsene Wenger, Andrea Agnelli, David Gill, Daniel Levy, Freddie Ljungberg, Rick Parry, Lord Sugar and more.

Peter Nørrelund, executive VP and chief sports and business development officer at Viaplay Group, noted: “Football has become much more than a game—it’s now a global industry worth billions, with players, clubs and fans dealing with the rapid transformation of the modern game—in a world of rich traditions and cherished history. With Simon Jordan at the helm, Sport vs Money delivers a bold, compelling and timely look at the mechanisms influencing the sport from the inside out. This is essential viewing for anyone who loves the game, wishes to understand how it works, and where it’s headed.”

Grant Best, whose credits include Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum & Dad, is producing. The series is executive produced by Hugh Sleight, whose credits include Maradona: The Fall.
