Human to Human, a docuseries following the lives of Ukrainian refugees as they flee through Poland, has launched on Viaplay in 11 European countries.

The ten-episode series focuses on the fate and challenges of Ukrainian refugees, as well as the joys, hopes and fears of Polish volunteers, activists and citizens who are working to help them.

The title references the Latin maxim Homo homini lupus (“Man is a wolf to man”), as war often brings out the worst in people. Paradoxically, it also offers the opportunity to do good. “One example of this positive phenomenon is the widespread support of Polish citizens toward Ukrainian refugees,” said Kacper Lisowski, series creator and head director.

Human to Human is produced by Paprika Studios and Kristoffer Rus, head of Paprika Studios Poland, and Agnieszka Knysak-Sandecka, head of production for Paprika Poland. Collaborators on the series include Paweł Deląg, Zuzanna Solakiewicz and Krystyna Wałajtys-Łonisk.

Barbara Wiśniewska-Grzesiak of Viaplay Group said, “This series gives us a peek into the realities that refugees and the Polish volunteers assisting them have had to face in what can be seen as the greatest European crisis since the Second World War.”
