Channel 4 has commissioned from Spun Gold TV the three-part documentary series The Real Windsors.

The docuseries will examine the current standing of the British Royal Family, delving into the lives and influence of Queen Elizabeth and heirs to the throne Prince Charles and Prince William. All3Media International has worldwide distribution rights for The Real Windsors.

Part one of The Real Windsors will look back at how the Queen’s vision and resolve to ensure the ongoing success and future stability of “The Firm” have built the Royal Family into one of the world’s most recognizable and longest-running brands.

The second part is about Prince Charles and his long apprenticeship for the role of monarch, as well as how his reign is likely to differ from his mother’s and the reception he stands to receive from the British public.

The Real Windsors’ third episode asks whether Prince William, who has long appealed to younger generations by promoting issues important to millennials, has more in common with his grandmother’s principles and if he is more traditional than his PR team makes out.

The series includes interviews with those who’ve worked closely with the royals, as well as rarely seen archive.

Daniela Neumann, managing director of Spun Gold TV, said: “As the Royal Family marks a momentous anniversary and readies itself for a succession, this series will examine the roles of its three key players: The Boss… Has she made herself irreplaceable? The Heir… how will he balance his activism while wearing the Crown? And The Prince… Can he recalibrate the institution to last long into the 21st century? By talking to those who know them well, we’ll try to answer these questions and shine a new spotlight on the future of the Royal House of Windsor.”

Channel 4’s Louisa Compton said: “This series will show the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William as you’ve never seen them before. Each episode is packed full of revelation and insight and will be the perfect accompaniment to a momentous year for the Royal Family.”
