PiXii Festival Connected Edition, a part of Sunny Side of the Doc, has announced the 14 digital and narrative experiences coming from France, Germany, Israel, Canada, the U.S. and Australia selected for this year’s edition.

The lineup includes original stories focused on using digital technologies to push storytelling in new directions, with interactive and immersive components that leverage such digital technologies as XR, VR, AR, 3D sound, smart objects, gaming and AI. Though no prizes will be awarded due to the coronavirus pandemic, all selected works will receive digital exposure that will enable creatives and producers to present video pitches and foster new collaborations through targeted meetings.

Further, a series of Meet the Executives sessions focused on Digital Cultures & Storytelling will highlight the content strategies, co-creation dynamics and operating models of key players in the field, including the Center Phi in Montreal, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York or the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, National Geographic and Arte.

The selected titles for the 2020 PiXii Festival are Mona Lisa: Beyond the Glass (VR), The Holy City (XR), Pompéi, the VR Experience (VR), Civil War 1864: A Virtual Reality Experience (VR), Insurrection 1944: Immersion into the Inner Workings of French Armed Resistance (Mixed Reality), Lights! (VR/Smart Objects/3D Sound), Le Voyage de Kotick (AR), Monument VR (VR), The Antarctica Experience (VR), MauAR (AR), Walled-in (AR), Birdie Long Gone (AR) and Meet Mortaza (AR/VR).

The virtual event will take place from June 22 to 25.
