WARSAW: SPI International/FilmBox International has secured a distribution deal that sees eight FilmBox brand channels and its FilmBox Live on-demand service launch with Digitune Media Technologies in Nigeria.

Through the agreement, FilmBox Africa, FilmBox Arthouse, FightBox, DocuBox, Fast&FunBox, FashionBox, 360TuneBox and MadscreenBox will be available on Digitune’s OTT/IPTV service in Nigeria. FilmBox Live, a multiscreen VOD platform that offers access to FilmBox-branded channels and an on-demand library, is also included in the deal.

Amit Karni, SPI International’s head of sales for Africa, commented, “Digitune is going to be the first OTT/IPTV service in Nigeria to offer SPI International’s TV channels. It will be a complementary service to the satellite services of Montage and Consat already operating in Nigeria and offering FilmBox channels.”

Digitune Media customers will have access to a selection of movies and TV shows on FilmBox Africa, including the Doctor Who series. The movie channel FilmBox Arthouse, meanwhile, offers a lineup of independent films.

FightBox is another addition to Digitune Media’s lineup. The channel airs international martial-arts content and kickboxing events, while the extreme-sports channel Fast&FunBox has car racing, snowboarding and skateboarding, among other adrenaline-fueled sports.

Digitune Media will also carry DocuBox, which provides a host of documentary films about nature, science and more. The FashionBox channel, meanwhile, is devoted to shopping and fashion, and 360TuneBox is dedicated to music content. MadscreenBox, also part of the lineup, is an interactive channel featuring family-oriented games and entertainment.
