DISCOP Africa has launched the Le Bridge initiative to showcase African film and television content to international buyers and match African producers with global players to invest in their projects.

Le Bridge is planned in collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board and the Kigali-based Mashariki African Film Festival. In the three months that will precede the three-day market, a series of periodical screenings will feature entertainment content from Africa available for regional and global distribution. Acting and behind-the-scenes talent will be on-hand for Q&A sessions.

Before the market in Kigali, Rwanda on December 10, a live and virtual pitching day will feature film, television, documentary and animation projects in advance stages of development and presented by their creators. DISCOP Africa is also working with FAME Week Africa. Launching in July, FAME Week Africa will be presenting a series of webinars tailored for independent producers with an eye on international opportunities. Webinars will feature an array of distribution and co-production experts and drive dialogue ahead of the event.

The 25th DISCOP Africa will take place from December 12 to 14 in Kigali.

Patrick Zuchowicki Jucaud, founder and president of DISCOP Africa, said: “In the aftermath of the pandemic, the entertainment content creation industry is turning a new page in Africa. Creators are leveraging the continent’s rich culture to create authentic content that can better travel the world.”
