SPI International to Launch Free-to-Air Channel in Africa

WARSAW: SPI International is rolling out the free-to-air channel The Box for Africa on the CT Live platform serving South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries.

The Box for Africa will be placed on Intelsat-20, the main satellite for the region. It will be available in the SADC countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and several others in the region, reaching an audience of more than 2 million viewers.

The free-to-air channel will showcase a mix of premium-entertainment content, including movies, sports, music and lifestyle programming. The channel will offer series, music videos, MMA and kickboxing championships, travel documentaries and adventure sports.

“SPI International has been very active in this region,” said Amit Karni, SPI International’s head of sales for Africa. “We are building our ninth channel for Africa to promote our premium package that we are actively selling.”

SPI International currently operates eight channels in Africa. These include FilmBox, FilmBox Arthouse, FightBox, DocuBox, FashionBox, Fast&FunBox, 360TuneBox and MadsceenBox.
