Passion Sees Boost in African Business

LONDON: Passion Distribution is heading to DISCOP Africa next week on the heels of a slew of new sales deals in the region, including licensing Man V. Food Nation to Sony Max.

The pan-regional pay-TV channel has picked up season one of the show, as well as 2 hour-long specials. Passion’s business in Africa is up by 39 percent when compared with sales for the region in the whole of 2011. Other recently concluded deals include Wananchi Programming scoring 56 hours for its Zuku-branded pay-TV channels and M-Net taking Rupaul’s Drag Race for Vuzu.

“Africa is becoming a hugely viable market for Passion and one we are seeing a lot of growth in, hence our attendance at DISCOP, said Rebecca Thomas, sales manager for Passion Distribution. We are continually doing business with countries across the continent by focusing on the individual territories as well as the larger pan broadcasters, in order to continue this growth into 2013 and beyond.”
