The Philippines’ ABS-CBN Corporation has secured a volume deal with StarTimes to air a number of dramas across Sub-Saharan Africa.

ABS-CBN will provide first-window rights to a number of its latest top-rating shows, including the family drama A Love to Last and the revenge series Wildflower. Among the hit Filipino dramas that have aired on StarTimes are On the Wings of Love and Dolce Amore. The pay-TV channel is currently airing ABS-CBN’s top rating drama Doble Kara, about the life of twins Kara and Sarah.

“Filipino stories are full of youthful romance, pure love, and also dramatic plots,” said StarTimes’ chairman, Pang Xinxing. “They show how the young Asian people struggle with lives and how to love.”

“Despite the highly competitive global market, Africa has remained to be one of our constant and strongest territories,” said ABS-CBN OIC-head for integrated acquisitions and international sales and distribution, Maria Cecilia Imperial. “We look forward to an even wider presence for Filipino content in the region via the StarTimes platform.”
