RIO DE JANEIRO: The fifth edition of RioContentMarket in Brazil is slated to kick off February 25, with directors M. Night Shyamalan and Cary Fukunaga set to be among those attending.

Preceding the event will be the International Capacity-Building Program for Documentaries (ICP DOC), promoted by the Brazilian TV Producers, the export program by ABPITV in partnership with Apex-Brasil. The workshop will be held during the days prior to the RioContentMarket, and it will focus on the development of projects with export potential.

RCM 2015 will also hold the Workshop for Entrepreneur Training and Capacity-Building, an initiative by ABVCAP (Brazilian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association) in order to train entrepreneurs who are in search of partners to leverage their businesses. Additionally, the Series’ School program will be held the day before the market commences, with the intent of promoting a dialogue between directors of the Brazilian and international markets about the creative process and storytelling and management techniques for the development of TV series.

The 2015 edition coincides with several anniversaries: host city Rio de Janeiro turns 450; Rede Globo marks its 50th year; famed cartoonist Mauricio de Souza will commemorate his 80th birthday; and HBO celebrates its first decade of original productions in Brazil.

Last year’s RioContentMarket brought together 3,200 national and international participants during the three days of the event. It involved a total of 522 players and speakers, 2,682 Brazilian participants and 1,126 official one-to-one meetings.
