Telemundo Bulks Up Original Programming

NEW YORK: Telemundo Media has increased its original programming slate by nearly 40 percent, with more than 800 hours of new content.

The new programming includes six telenovelas, among them The Lord of the Heavens, The Patron and The Face of Revenge. Telemundo also slated the novelas Forbidden Passion, An Idol is Born and Fine Pedigree. A number of daytime shows join the network, including Cuauhtemoc and The Virgin of Guadalupe. Also on the grid is the reality competition My Name Is.

“This season we are presenting our most ambitious original programming slate ever, a testament to our commitment to produce the most relevant Spanish-language content for the largest Hispanic audience possible,” said Emilio Romano, the president of Telemundo Media. “Fueled by our record-breaking performance and the support of Comcast and NBCUniversal, together with a leading team of executives, our mission is to become the number one Hispanic media company in the U.S. and the leading producer of Spanish-language content in the world.”

“Hispanics living in the U.S. often transcend two worlds—roots in their home country and their lives here today,” added Jacqueline Hernández, the COO of Telemundo Media. “Our new positioning platform reflects our audience’s duality of being in America and being Latino.”
