Netflix Leads Spanish-Language SVOD Lineups in the U.S.

Among the top five SVOD operators in the U.S., Netflix had the highest proportion of Spanish-language content, according to analysis from Reelgood.

Based on catalog data tracked between September 15, 2020, and September 15, 2021, Netflix led in terms of Spanish-language shows as a proportion of the overall lineup (6.4 percent), followed by HBO Max (3 percent), Hulu (1.7 percent), Disney+ (1.1 percent) and Prime Video (0.7 percent). Netflix and HBO Max grew their catalog of Spanish-language series by almost 1 percentage point year-on-year, Reelgood indicates.

In terms of Spanish-language movies, Netflix was again out front with 6.4 percent, followed by HBO Max’s 3.7 percent, Hulu’s 1.1 percent, Disney+’s 0.8 percent and Prime Video’s 0.1 percent.

Among the most popular Spanish-language TV shows were Money Heist, Elite and The Innocent on Netflix and 30 Coins, Patria and Veneno on HBO Max.
