NEW YORK: A slate of new programming led by the rags-to-riches series El Capitan will join MundoFox’s upcoming season, according to the network’s 2014-15 Upfront presentation.

El Capitan tells the true story of a man from humble origins who forges an illustrious destiny for himself, touching the lives of millions in the process. The show is filmed in Mexico and stars Jose Maria de Tavira and Mexican leading actor Humberto Zurita.

Other new shows include El Mariachi, about a young musician who is mistaken for a fugitive and gets inadvertently thrown into a war between drug cartels; Los Milagros de Jesus, a Biblical epic chronicling some of Jesus’ most important miracles; and Quien Mato a Patricia Soler?, the story of a woman who returns after 20 years to seek vengeance on the close friends who betrayed her.

Returning shows include the prime-time game show 100 Latinos Dijeron and a rebranded version of the network’s national news platform, Noticias MundoFox con Rolando Nichols. The channel is also set to release VIVE MUNDOFOX, an online VOD platform that will make its content available anywhere, at any time.

“MundoFox will deliver programing that is appealing and relevant to the U.S. Hispanic community through high-quality productions, innovative storylines and characters that relate to our audience,” said Ibra Morales, the resident of MundoFox. “We aim to provide our content across multiple platforms giving viewers access to the content they want anywhere, anytime. We are already the fastest growing Spanish-language network in social media. And we are getting ready to reach another milestone: launching VIVE MUNDOFOX, our online digital VOD platform, a user-friendly video player that will be fully operational by the fall of 2014.”
