SÃO PAULO: Brazilian broadcaster Globo will be airing all Brazilian league soccer matches in HD starting this season, with plans to add games from other leagues next year.

The Brazilian league, known locally as the Brasileirão, is one of Globo’s principal sports products, being distributed in more than 190 countries via multiple platforms. The league’s current season is under way, though it will take a break during the summer to make way for the World Cup being held in that country. In 2015, the broadcaster also plans to air matches from the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states leagues in HD.

Additional HD offerings will include two soccer-themed programs set to air during the championships: Footbrazil Magazine, which will feature interviews, behind-the-scenes glimpses and analysis of the teams, and Footbrazil Highlights, which will showcase the best moments of the tournaments’ best games.
