MIAMI: DIRECTV Latin America has secured the rights for three seasons of the English Premier League in the region, excluding Brazil.

The agreement is for the live audiovisual broadcast rights for all 380 Premier League matches per season from 2016-17 to 2018-19. In addition to broadcasting the Premier League on its satellite DTH service, DIRECTV is set to make the matches available to its subscribers online and via mobile devices through its DIRECTV Play service.

Jason Markham, DIRECTV Latin America’s VP of programming acquisitions, said: “We are excited to announce the extension of our partnership with the English Premier League. The Premier League will continue to be a key component of our commitment to offer our subscribers exclusive, multiplatform coverage of world-class sporting events.”

“We are very pleased that DIRECTV Latin America has again chosen to invest in Premier League broadcasting rights,” said Premier League Executive Chairman Richard Scudamore. “They have done an excellent job making the competition available to fans across the region and we look forward to continuing to work with them."
