PARIS/CANCUN: MIPCancun, which runs from November 18 to 20 in Mexico, has opened registration for a new TV-content conference.

The conference program, titled “Passion for TV Content,” will be run in partnership with Pro Mexico. It will take an in-depth look at producing within and for the Latin American market. Subjects to be discussed include how Latin American and Hispanic companies are realigning their strategies to meet new audience demands, programming approaches to attract pan-regional and local audiences, project development and production best practices, legislation covering the region’s media sector and how to produce content that attracts digital natives.

Among the industry executives confirmed to speak during this year’s MIPCancun conferences are Enrique Martinez, the president and managing director for Latin America, U.S. Hispanic and Canada for Discovery Networks; Jorge Stamadianos, Fox International Channels’ head of development and production; Jorge Granier Phelps, the executive producer of Golden Globe-nominated Jane the Virgin; and Nadav Palti, the CEO of Dori Media, among others.

The event will mark the second year for MIPCancun, which is set to host more than 85 Latin American-based broadcasters and some 80 international distributors. The market will also host special one-on-one sales meetings.

“Demand to take part in the face-to-face sales meetings has been excellent and these are now sold out,” said MIPCancun Director Ted Baracos. “Distributors really appreciate the time they get to spend with the channels understanding their program needs and strategy. In addition to these deal meetings, we wanted to open up MIPCancun to a wider industry audience, particularly Latin American program producers who we are now encouraging to register for the event. The conference program is designed to fast-forward their understanding of the global Latin American TV sector and grow their business. During the various networking opportunities, they will also have unique access, in a unique setting, to the main companies operating in Latin America.”
