MIAMI: Cisneros Media has hired Wilma Maciel as VP of content management and acquisitions for Cisneros Media Distribution (CMD), effective immediately.

In her newly created role, Maciel will work out of Miami under Marcello Coltro, the executive VP of content distribution at Cisneros Media. She will assist Coltro with the design and development of a comprehensive content portfolio strategy for CMD to maximize global exploitation and streamline efficiency and revenue potential. Her duties will include identifying and developing new strategic relationships with producers and broadcasters; evaluating partnership, licensing and alliance opportunities; and revamping the current pay-TV channel offering, programming and scheduling strategies and acquiring content for their audiences; among others.

Maciel previously served as VP of programming, acquisitions, on-air planning and original productions for Sony Entertainment Television Latin America, and senior executive programming and acquisition director for Warner Channel. She has also held positions at such entertainment companies as ESPN and AMC. Altogether, she has nearly 25 years of experience working in the TV industry.

“We are fortunate to be able to count on Wilma’s extensive expertise in the media industry as her role will be instrumental for the continuing implementation of our plan to consolidate the operations of the pay-TV and content sales areas of Cisneros Media Distribution,” stated Coltro. “Wilma will work side by side with the executives of pay TV and content sales in order to fulfill the growing demand of CMD’s international clientele, our broadcast and pay-TV channels, as well as the increasing number of digital platforms around the world.”
