AMC/Sundance Channel Global Names LatAm VP

NEW YORK: AMC Networks’ AMC/Sundance Channel Global has appointed Gustavo Lopez as its VP of global distribution and business development for Latin America, where Sundance Channel is slated to launch in September.

In the newly created role, Lopez will work out of Miami under Ed Palluth, the executive VP of global distribution for AMC/Sundance Channel Global. His duties will include supervising the distribution of Sundance Channel throughout Latin America, including oversight and management of affiliate sales and marketing in the region.

Lopez was previously the VP and regional counsel for Discovery Communications, where he handled all legal and regulatory affairs for the company in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market. Before that he served as the senior director of legal affairs for HBO Latin America Group.

Palluth noted: "Gus is a seasoned media executive who brings with him a wealth of experience across Latin America. His strong negotiating skills and industry relationships will help propel the growth of Sundance Channel as we continue to serve audiences and distributors with high quality, globally renowned entertainment."
