NEW YORK: Early next month, AMC Networks International is set to launch the AMC channel in Brazil via satellite pay-TV operator SKY.

The 24-hour, Portuguese-language linear service will be available starting April 1. The channel will feature exclusive AMC Studios original dramas such as Halt and Catch Fire and The Divide, which will premiere for the first time in Brazil April 6 and 16, respectively. Additionally, the network will feature the premiere of The Walking Dead’s still untitled companion series later in the year, with each episode airing within 24 hours of its U.S. premiere.

Ed Palluth, ‎the executive VP of global distribution at AMC Networks International, commented, “AMC has helped to redefine the broadcasting landscape with some of the most celebrated dramatic storytelling on television in the past decade. We’re excited to extend our partnership with SKY after the successful debut of Sundance Channel in Brazil last year. We’re looking forward to offering audiences across the country the inimitable combination of AMC’s first-run original dramas and extensive library of popular movies. We’re thrilled to be the exclusive broadcaster of the companion series for The Walking Dead and to bring this show to a global audience within 24 hours of the U.S. premiere later in the year.”
