PARIS: The third edition of MIPCancun, taking place this November, has added two additional summits to run alongside its TV market, where some 70 distributors have already signed up to participate.

Reed MIDEM says that it has sold out more than 50 percent of the distribution market at MIPCancun, taking place in Mexico from November 16 to 18 at a new venue, the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel Cancun. The event provides pre-set meetings between rights holders and buyers. Some 70 distributors have already signed up, including A+E Networks, all3media International, BBC Worldwide, Caracol Television, Comarex, FremantleMedia, Globo, ITV Inter Medya, Televisa Internacional, Telemundo Internacional and Sky Vision, among others. More than 100 top Latin American buyers from 23 countries are slated to attend, including representatives from Fox Networks Group Latin America, Disney Latin America, Telefonica, Telefe, Turner, Bandeirantes, Azteca, Blim, Televisa and Google/YouTube.

Up to 300 senior programming and production executives will participate at this year’s MIPCancun, which has been expanded to include the Digital Minds Summit and the Creative Summit.

The Digital Minds Summit will bring together influential leaders at the forefront of the digital revolution in the Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets. Each session will be followed by roundtable workshops led by mentors and industry experts. The topics to be covered are Next Generation Content, Digital Content Distribution and a Survival Guide to OTT.

The Creative Summit will feature heads of programming and content development, creators and showrunners, plus roundtable workshops. The themes are Creativity: Finding New Talent, Co-Production: LatAm Producers and TV Channels, and New Talent and Program Pitches.

“Building on the success of the first two years, MIPCancun is creating a true community gathering for Latin American TV executives involved in all forms of content development, co-production, and formats, where the latest opportunities can be explored with the region’s trailblazers,” said Ted Baracos, director of market development at Reed MIDEM.
