Univision Expands Distribution Sales & Marketing Team

NEW YORK: Univision Communications has made four executive appointments within its distribution sales and marketing team, in an effort to accelerate the delivery of its content across multiple platforms.

Rob Thun has been named executive VP of business operations, joining the company from AT&T, where he was the senior VP of content for the U-verse TV service. Renee Plato is to serve as the senior VP of digital distribution. Plato comes to Univision from ABC, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, where she was the VP of digital distribution. Both execs will be based in New York, reporting to Tonia O’Connor, the president of distribution sales and marketing.

Sarah Madigan has been promoted within Univision to senior VP of business affairs. Madigan most recently served as the VP of business affairs. Carlos Alimurung takes on responsibilities as the VP of digital distribution. He moves to the role after serving in the office of the CEO at Univision, in which he was working on the company’s windowing strategy and evaluating and prioritizing opportunities to exploit the company’s library. Madigan and Alimurung are also based in New York. Madigan reports to Thun, while Alimurung reports to Plato.

“Our mission is to be everywhere our audience is—from the big screen TV to the mobile phone, and anywhere in between—in order to satisfy our audience, who can’t get enough of our content," said O’Connor. "In order to accomplish this goal, while continuing to build on and renew our longstanding relationships with our distribution partners, we are expanding our already strong team with additional media industry experts. They all share a vision that recognizes the incredible potential of Univision’s extensive and exclusive portfolio.” O’Connor continued, “Rob, Renee, Sarah and Carlos each has a specific understanding of how to work within and across multiple media platforms and has deep relationships throughout the industry. They are also passionate about providing fresh and interesting content to Univision audiences.”
