Sinking Ship Entertainment Purchases Picture Box

TORONTO: Sinking Ship Entertainment, the production house behind such kids’ series as Dino Dan and Odd Squad, has acquired Picture Box Distribution.

Launched in 2001, Picture Box Distribution sells completed programs and presells content in development, in addition to acting as a co-production liaison with commissioning editors. Picture Box distributed Sinking Ship’s first series, This Is Daniel Cook, and also recently repped the company’s girl-led Annedroids internationally.

The deal sees Picture Box partners Marilyn Kynaston and Kate Sanagan joining Sinking Ship to lead its expanding distribution and sales division.

“Kate and Marilyn have always felt like a part of the Sinking Ship family,” said J.J. Johnson, partner at Sinking Ship Entertainment. “They’re risk-eager, creative thinkers who represent shows with their hearts as much as their minds—we’re absolutely thrilled to have them both officially onboard.”

“We are excited to be joining the amazing crew at Sinking Ship,” said Sanagan. “Sinking Ship creates some of the most interesting and innovative children’s programming in the world and we’re looking forward to representing all of these series internationally.”
