Sinking Ship Entertainment has partnered with Australia’s Gristmill for Lightning Primary, a new series for children ages 6 to 9.

The half-hour series will follow the adventures of a group of kids whose school is transformed into a magical realm after being struck by lightning.

Lightning Primary marks the first official Canadian-Australian co-production for both Sinking Ship and Gristmill. Filming is set to take place in Australia, while the visual effects will be produced out of Canada.

The series was originally developed by Gristmill with the support of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF).

“As longtime superfans of Sinking Ship’s work, we are tickled pink to be teaming up for our latest children’s adventure,” said Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope from Gristmill. “Lightning Primary is a very special show, and we can’t wait to watch SSE weave their magic into it.”

“There is a unique tone to the humor that Wayne and Robyn infuse into their shows that clearly resonates with kids and their families around the world,” noted Carla de Jong, executive producer at Sinking Ship Entertainment. “We are thrilled to be partnering with them to bring this ambitious project to life.”
