HÖHENKIRCHEN/MUNICH: m4e has taken over Rainbow’s stake in the hit kids’ property Mia and me around the globe, excluding in Italy.

The deal, which takes effect retroactively from January 1, 2016, gives m4e a 45 percent share of the international rights to Mia and me. The company will take over more control on the production, licensing and marketing of the brand, which was created by Gerhard Hahn. Rainbow will continue to hold 100 percent of the rights in Italy. Hahn Film will take over the remaining 5 percent of the rights from Rainbow. The other 50 percent of the international rights will stay with co-producer Hahn & m4e Productions.

Hans Ulrich Stoef, the CEO of m4e, remarked: “It has been under discussion with Rainbow for months to acquire the co-production shares and we are very happy now that this project came to a successful conclusion. For m4e this is a milestone in the company’s development. With now almost 100 percent of the shares, which we are holding together with Gerd Hahn/Hahn Film AG, we are able to market the brand even more targeted and to further expand it internationally.

“We also want to express our appreciation to the management and the whole team of Rainbow for the good and successful cooperation over the last years. And that they made the repurchase of the Mia and me rights possible.”
