SYDNEY: Australian comedian Akman Saleh has joined the voice cast of The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill as the titular character’s best friend, Jacko the frill-necked lizard.

Produced by Sydney-based Flying Bark Productions, the 52×11-minute series will be set a few years after the events of last year’s feature film, Blinky Bill the Movie. Seven commissioned the animated title for its broadcast channel, 7TWO. Ireland’s Telegael and India’s Giant Wheel are producing the show, which is slated to air later this year.

Saleh joins a voice cast that includes Cam Ralph as Blinky. His list of credits includes movies, stand-up, TV appearances and time as a radio DJ and talk show host. He is also a published author.

“Following an incredibly successful theatrical release last year for Blinky Bill the Movie, we are excited to be announcing Akmal as the voice of Jacko for our new Blinky Bill television series,” said Barbara Stephen, Flying Bark Productions’s managing director. “Akmal is without a doubt one of Australia’s most loved comedians and his impeccable comedic timing makes him a perfect fit for the voice of Blinky’s best mate. We are thrilled Akmal is joining us on this fresh new take of Blinky Bill, completing the comeback of Australia’s favorite koala.”
