Winx Club Steers Rainbow Slate

The reboot Winx Club: The Magic is Back leads Rainbow’s MIPCOM offering.

Its “vibrant new look and modern feel is designed to appeal to contemporary audiences, and reaction to the eagerly awaited series has been hugely positive,” says Andrea Graciotti, VP of sales and co-productions.

Since launching around 20 years ago, Winx Club has been “a stratospheric success, generating over 20 billion views on YouTube, reaching over 150 countries and more than 500 active licenses,” Graciotti adds. “It transformed from a popular animated series into a cultural phenomenon, becoming a part of childhood for several generations, and is still capturing new audiences today.”

Mermaid Magic centers on the adventures of three mermaid friends as they battle an evil pirate. The episodes share messages about ocean conservation and respecting nature.

Gormiti—The New Era, which reimagines the franchise with a blend of live action and CGI effects, sees four heroes from Earth called to save the fantasy realm of Gorm. “The series mixes breathtaking live-action exploits, a super-talented cast, electrifying CGI and sensational storylines while also promoting relevant and important themes such as respecting nature, selflessness and the power of friendship and unit against adversity as the heroes battle the forces of evil,” Graciotti says.

“All three series showcase Rainbow’s unwavering commitment to quality, compelling storytelling and innovation, with high-quality production values and themes with wide universal appeal,” he adds.

“We aim to continue to expand our fabulous and diverse portfolio of content for the whole family, focusing on innovation, quality and the ability to create authentic emotional connections with audiences,” Graciotti notes. “We look forward to sharing our plans at MIP, along with talking more about our outstanding current hit shows and some exciting future projects, too.”
