Jetpack Distribution has picked up the worldwide rights (excluding France) for two 2D animated shows from Paris-based studio Samka.

The deal includes the rights for Viking Skool, an action comedy centered on a school that trains its students to be future Viking leaders. Ylva, Erik and Arni demonstrate what a true Viking heart looks like and how necessary bravery is.

Viking Skool, co-produced by Samka and Cartoon Saloon, is due to air on Disney Channels and Disney+ across EMEA and on FranceTV in France.

Jetpack Distribution also acquired the rights for Once Upon a Time… Objects, a comedy edutainment series co-produced by Samka and Procidis, the creators of the original IP (Once Upon a Time…) upon which the show is based. The series’ lead protagonist, Maestro, first appeared on French television screens in 1978. Now, he returns to tell children stories about various everyday objects such as footballs, forks and mirrors.

Once Upon a Time… Objects is currently in development and is due to air on FranceTV in France, HOT in Israel, RTS in Switzerland and TV5MONDE around the world.

Dominic Gardiner, Jetpack’s CEO, said, “At Jetpack, we have been ramping up our acquisitions even further, discovering more standout shows that really speak to the current needs of the global market. And those we’ll be rolling out for MIPCOM.”

He continued, “Viking Skool and Once Upon a Time… Objects are two brilliant additions that demonstrate what we’re all about as a business. With incredible and impressive creative leadership from Samka, Cartoon Saloon and Procidis, we are proud to bring these to the market.”
