Jason Derulo Tapped to Host Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

Jason Derulo is set to host and perform at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi, which will mark the first edition of the event in the Middle East.

With 15 billion streams worldwide and 17 multi-platinum singles, the U.S.-based singer and songwriter is the voice behind chart-topping songs such as “Swalla,” “Stupid Love,” “Want to Want Me” and his latest track, “Mamacita,” featuring Farruko. Travel YouTuber Haifa Beseisso will co-host the ceremony, which is set to take place on September 20 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The event will air on Nickelodeon on OSN in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain on September 24 and will also be aired on Nickelodeon channels internationally.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi 2019 is part of Abu Dhabi Family Week, which is being organised by DCT Abu Dhabi to bring a series of activities for kids and families to the city. Additional activities include the brand new The World of Nickelodeon, a three-day Nickelodeon activation from September 19 to 21.

“I’m honored to be hosting the first Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Abu Dhabi!” said Derulo. “We’ve got a thrilling show planned, and I can’t wait to be on stage celebrating with the kids. It’s going to be a great event, see you there!”

Beseisso, who uses her channel Fly With Haifa to show her travels around the world and break cultural stereotypes, said: “Super excited to be on that stage, share some serious love, color, slime and just have a fantastic time at the first Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the Middle East! We’re going to have fun, Arab Style.”

“Having a global superstar such as Jason Derulo, as well as a YouTube star such as Haifa Beseisso secured for the first ever Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the region is yet another illustration of our commitment to positioning Abu Dhabi as a world-class destination for entertainment,” said Saeed Rashed Al Saeed, destination marketing director at DCT Abu Dhabi. “These two stars will further enhance this groundbreaking event and reinforce the UAE capital’s growing reputation for hosting events which will generate memories that will last for a lifetime.”

“We are excited to announce Jason Derulo as host and Haifa as co-host for the first Kids Choice Awards in Abu Dhabi,” said Tracey Grant, VP of content and channels for Viacom International Media Networks Middle East. “The superstar, Jason Derulo, recognized for his international hits, will engage young fans around the world and put a global spotlight on the event, while Haifa, one of the most important YouTubers in the UAE region, will energize the local audiences from around the Middle East. This show will combine the Arab entertainment world with the international Nickelodeon spirit and these two key elements are sure to make the first KCA Abu Dhabi a success.”
