Public Broadcasters Joining Forces at Cartoon Forum

European public broadcasters are joining forces at Cartoon Forum, with BBC and S4C hosting Animated UK Meets Europe and France Télévisions and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) partnering for a financing initiative.

The BBC and S4C have selected three projects seeking European co-production and distribution partners to be pitched during the Animated UK Meets Europe session on September 17: Amelia Fang from CAKE Entertainment and DCM, Let’s Play in Tiger Bay from Hoho Entertainment and Bumpybox and The Adventures of Robin Robin from Aardman.

The EBU and France Télévisions renewed their co-development initiative that will focus on the collective financing of a project selected by EBU members during Cartoon Forum. Fifteen European public broadcasters have already confirmed their participation.

At the end of Cartoon Forum, the EBU participating broadcasters will select their top ten projects. To finalize the selection of one or two winning projects that will receive development funding, the EBU may contact the producers of the shortlisted projects to request additional materials. A winner will be selected by the end of the year.

Cartoon Forum participants will have the opportunity to see the materials developed for last year’s selected project, My Life is a Manga, on September 18.
