ITV Studios Adds to Formats Slate, Inks New Deals

ITV Studios has signed a host of deals for adaptations from its formats slate and added the game show Solitary to its catalog.

Solitary is an audacious format that still feels incredibly fresh today,” noted Mike Beale, managing director of the creative network for ITV Studios. “With its arcing competition, it can work for both linear and streaming services. We’re thrilled to bring it into our catalog and be working with Lincoln [Hiatt] and Andrew [Golder] to relaunch it in the market.”

The format, created by Hiatt and Golder, sees contestants confined to isolation pods with no sense of day or night, no human contact and no alliances. Guided only by Val, an ever-present computer entity, they face physical and mental challenges until the last one standing claims the prize. The format has previously travelled to Germany via ProSieben and Brazil via SBT.

In addition, ITV Studios has signed a deal in Spain for A Party to Die For, which will be known locally as Una fiesta de muerte and produced by ITV Studios Iberia for Atresmedia. This marks the third local adaptation of the series.

In A Party to Die For, celebrities are invited to a glamorous party, only to find that one of them has been “murdered” before the event begins. The remaining guests must use their detective skills to solve the mystery and uncover the culprit. Viewers can play along at home via a dedicated app, trying to guess who the murderer is. The format comes from ITV Studios Netherlands and Talpa Studios.

ITV Studios’ Come Dine with Me has reached its 50th territory with the launch of Come Dine with Me Africa (French-speaking), now airing on CANAL+MAGIC. Produced by 909 Productions, part of the Mediawan Group, the 40-episode series also marks the 20th anniversary of the format. The success of the format is continuing to grow, with the spin-off Come Dine with Me Teens, produced by MultiStory Media for Channel 4 in the U.K.

The quiz format The Chase, meanwhile, is entering its 22nd territory with a local adaptation for New Zealand being produced by ITV Studios Australia to air on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+. The format originated in the U.K. and is created and produced by Potato, part of ITV Studios.

My Mum Your Dad was recommissioned for a second season in Brazil on Globoplay. It will once again be produced by Formata. The format originated in the U.S., produced by ITV America’s ITV Entertainment in association with Rombola Entertainment for HBO Max.
