Nine Network Commissions SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters Adaptation

ITV Studios’ SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters has landed its first international adaptation order from Nine Network in Australia, with ITV Studios Australia producing.

“We are thrilled to see SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters make its first international move with Nine Network in Australia,” said David Mott, managing director of ITV Studios Australia. “The format combines jaw-dropping entertainment with a strong environmental message, and it has already captured the imagination of viewers in the U.K. We’re confident this local version will resonate just as strongly with Australian audiences.”

The format launched earlier this year, debuting in the U.K. on ITV and ITVX. It consolidated 2.2 million viewers and was the third best-performing entertainment title on ITVX at the time of launch. The U.K. version is produced by Plimsoll Productions.

In the series, ocean-fearing celebrities leave their comfort zones to come face-to-face with sharks in the Bahamas. They take on escalating challenges, moving from the relative safety of shallow waters to close encounters with massive sharks in the deep. Over time, they confront their fears while learning about the vital role sharks play in marine ecosystems.

The Australian version will debut on Nine Network in 2026.

Hamish Turner, executive director for Nine Network, commented, “Australians have a complex relationship with sharks! This event series offers a look at how we can move from primal fear to fascination through the experience of six household Aussie names.”
