Antena TV Group to Adapt The Anthill in Romania

Antena TV Group has acquired the adaptation rights to Onza Distribution’s The Anthill to produce a local version of the format in Romania.

The original Spanish series, El Hormiguero, is a daily prime-time show hosted by Pablo Motos that presents a mix of celebrity interviews, humor, science and spectacular experiments. It has had more than 20 seasons since its launch in 2006.

“Antena TV Group’s vision is built on delivering benchmark-setting content, which is why I am so proud to announce our acquisition of The Anthill format,” said Isabella Carmu, director of programming and acquisitions. “As Spain’s most-watched program, it has set a new standard for television through its unique blend of creativity, humor, and star power. We are actively adapting this format for the Romanian market to bring a highly relevant and dynamic experience to our viewers. This acquisition directly reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in high-quality entertainment that leads the content industry.”

“We are very excited about this new adaptation of The Anthill, together with a partner of the quality of Antena Romania,” said Erika Gómez, head of sales at Onza Distribution. “This agreement is the result of the trust placed in us by 7yAcción, as well as the ongoing and close collaboration that Onza Distribution has with Jorge Salvador and Pablo Motos to represent their formats internationally. Combined with the dedication and strong commitment Antena is showing to bring the format to Romania, I am confident that the Romanian version will be as successful as the Spanish one.”
