LONDON: The Talpa format The Wishing Tree is being piloted by ITV in the U.K.

Shiver, ITV Studios’ factual arm, will produce the pilot. The Wishing Tree sees young children hang their wishes on a tree—they are making a wish for someone who they think deserves it. The show reveals the special wishes being fulfilled for each unsuspecting recipient.

Alexander Gardiner, the managing director of Shiver, said: “The Wishing Tree is a brilliantly simple idea with a wonderful objective at its heart. Not only are we tapping into Talpa’s vast portfolio to bring the show to the U.K.—we’re also enjoying the benefit of their experience producing this unique format for European audiences.”

Peter Davey, the commissioning editor of entertainment at ITV, commented: “We are excited to see the potential of this uplifting, family entertainment format, and are looking forward to working closely with Shiver and Talpa.”

Madeleine Knight, the director of development and formats at Talpa UK, said: “The Wishing Tree is a simple and inspiring show which gives young children the chance to dream big. We’re really looking forward to working with ITV and Shiver on this heartwarming project.”
