The Honesty Box to Make International Debut in Spain

BBC Studios has scored the first international license for its reality dating format The Honesty Box, with Brutal Media set to produce an adaptation for Telecinco in Spain.

“High-impact reality is a major priority for BBC Studios, and The Honesty Box is exactly the kind of bold, scalable format we’re focused on building globally,” said Matt Forde, president of BBC Studios Global Productions. “It’s a fresh take on modern relationships, and we’re delighted to see the format launching in Spain with Telecinco. We can’t wait to see how Spanish audiences respond as honesty is put to the ultimate test in the search for lasting love.”

In The Honesty Box, singles are brought together in “Truetopia,” a sunny and romantic paradise where truth and honesty are supreme. Every day, the daters face the Honesty Box, a new AI-enhanced software, to be asked probing questions about their feelings. If it detects deception, it could impact their newly formed relationship.

The format was originally created by Mettlemouse Entertainment and GroupM Motion Entertainment, a WPP Media company, for Channel 4 in the U.K.
