ITV Commissions Farmer Wants a Wife Revival

ITV has commissioned Farming for Love, a revival of the dating series Farmer Wants a Wife, which aired in the U.K. on ITV in 2001 and on Channel 5 in 2009.

“Farming has never been more popular but finding love while running a farm remains a real challenge,” said Nicola Lloyd, creative director at Naked TV, which is producing the series for ITV. “Farming for Love has all the heart, humor and authenticity that make a great dating show, and I’m thrilled we will be helping people find love this time on British farms.”

The series will follow a group of single farmers as they go on a quest to find their perfect match. Farmers select potential partners from applications and invite them to move onto the farm, where they must experience the realities of rural life firsthand. As they live and work together, the couples discover whether love can really grow between them.

Fremantle holds the global distribution and production rights to Farmer Wants a Wife, which is an original idea from the U.K.’s Country Living magazine. The show has aired in more than 34 territories worldwide.

Farming for Love is funny, feel-good and heartwarming,” commented Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment, reality and daytime TV at ITV. “It’s a love story with farming at the heart of it.”
