Los Angeles-based Apploff Entertainment has appointed Joni Day as its new executive VP of entertainment.

Day spent the last decade of her 20-year industry tenure as senior VP of alternative programming at Fremantle, spearheading the production of reality competitions and game shows. Her credits include Game of Talents, Supermarket Sweep, Match Game, To Tell the Truth, The Great Christmas Light Fight, Double Dare and Unleashed. Day also recently relaunched the game show Password on NBC.

Prior to her time at Fremantle, Day served as supervising producer at Mark Burnett Productions, where she contributed to formats such as Shark Tank and The Voice. Both earned her Emmy nominations.

Day and CEO Jeff Apploff share a long history together, having collaborated on several series before. “Joni is adored and respected by everyone in the entire industry,” said Apploff. “In this pivotal time of explosive growth within the company, there were no other candidates for this crucial position.”

Day commented: “I’ve always admired Jeff because he’s a quadruple threat, a shiny floor unicorn who can create, develop, sell and produce. He’s a gifted leader who inspires confidence and excellence in his team, consistently infusing joy and fun into the job. Rarely does one get the opportunity to work with someone so extraordinary, so I naturally jumped at the chance.”
