BBC Studios Lands New Nation’s Dumbest Deals

Montreux Film and Fjernsyn’s comedy game-show format Nation’s Dumbest, distributed by BBC Studios, is headed to France, Germany and Finland.

TF1, ProSieben and Joyn and MTV3 are set to launch local adaptations of the format, which originated in Norway on TV2 and TV2 Play and has been remade in Sweden for TV4.

In Germany, the six-part Deutschlands Dümmster Promi launches this month with eight local celebrities competing. BBC Studios France Productions is making TF1’s version for the fall. Fremantle Media Finland will produce an eight-part series for MTV3, Suomen Älyttömin Julkkis, which starts production this winter.

Matt Forde, president of BBC Studios Global Productions, said, “Nation’s Dumbest has been an instant hit since we launched the format at MIPCOM last year. With adaptations now confirmed across four European territories and more to come, this bold and entertaining concept with its humour, relatability and originality, is a perfect example of how our content travels”.

BBC Studios is hosting a showcase of its unscripted formats at MIPCOM, highlighting returning hits as well as the new brands Wisdom of the Crowd and The Inner Circle.
