TV Formats Screenings Festival Spotlight: All3Media International

All3Media International is showcasing both game shows and factual-entertainment brands in the TV Formats Screenings Festival, including the classic game show Lingo.

The show has aired daily for almost three decades in France and the Netherlands, with 500-plus episodes produced in the U.S. “A new U.K. series launched last year and an extended second series will launch later this year, along with new adaptations in Spain and Italy,” says Nick Smith, executive VP of formats.

Smith is also showcasing The Answer Trap, a quiz show that is “a great mix of general knowledge and luck—even the most practiced quizzers will have difficulty not falling for the Answer Trap. It is also ideal for playing along at home and the perfect excuse for the whole family to get together and have some fun.”

On the factual-entertainment front, meanwhile, there is 100 Things, in which a family is challenged to live for a month with just 100 items per person. “This new format makes us realize how many items we own and to consider what we really need,” Smith says. “Each family member has tough choices to make as they decide which are the 100 things they will keep during this social experiment. Following their thought process and their journey is fascinating and thought-provoking.”

Eating with Your Enemy is equally thought-provoking as it encourages people with opposing views to talk to each other. “Eating with Your Enemy offers a simple premise that’s easy to adapt, yet the result is powerful television that sparks important conversations—between the participants and viewers at home,” Smith says. “At a time when our world can seem so polarized, these honest debates on a variety of subjects offer vital insight into different experiences and perspectives.”
