Red Arrow Studios International has built up a stable of game shows to offer broadcasters in need of compelling daytime, access and prime-time entertainment, with four highlights in the TV Formats Screenings Festival, including Stealing the Show.

In the format, three celebrity contestants and a member of the public all compete to win the chance to host the next episode of the show the following week. “This is a truly original game show concept from Florida Entertainment that turns the traditional quiz show format on its head as contestants have the chance to literally steal the show,” says Tim Gerhartz, president and managing director at Red Arrow Studios International. “It has grown its share over two seasons, boosting commissioning broadcaster ProSieben’s share by 75 percent among viewers 14 to 49 years old.”

The Opposite Show, commissioned for a second season on SAT.1, also features celebrity contestants, Gerhartz says. “This quirky quiz show, originally created and produced by Leonine for SAT.1 in Germany, is hugely entertaining as nothing is as expected, right is left, yes is no, loud is quiet and every win is a loss.”

Quizness also brings a comedy angle to the well-worn game-show genre. Four contestants’ general knowledge and mental agility is put to the test as they battle across seven rounds to compete for a cash prize. “Rounds include ‘Subbly Jubbly,’ where contestants must substitute nonsense words into the correct answers, and ‘Risky Quizness,’ a quickfire round in which nearly every question has the same answer,” Gerhartz explains. “It’s a serious quiz with funny answers!”

Rounding out the Red Arrow Studios International selection in the festival is Block Out, a physical game show. “Block Out is an energetic and fun format with a simple premise that scales easily and has proven success in a variety of slots and demographics,” Gerhartz says. “Originally created by Nippon TV in Japan and Red Arrow Studios, it has aired successfully in several territories across Europe and Asia.”
