The Split, Our Girl to Be Offered as Scripted Formats

BBC Studios has launched a number of new scripted formats, including The Split and Our Girl, as part of its global slate.

The Split will launch as a 6×1-hour scripted format. The original The Split series was a top performer last year for BBC One in the U.K., with a second season commissioned. Internationally, it sold to 119 territories around the world. The series examines the fast-paced circuit of high-powered female divorce lawyers through the lens of three sisters.

Our Girl launches as 22×1-hour across three seasons. Since premiering in the U.K. in 2014, the military drama has seen ratings success across three seasons, with a fourth commissioned by BBC One. The third season has also been sold internationally to over 143 territories. The series follows the extraordinary adventures of a female medic in the British Army and a tight-knit unit of soldiers as they fight for survival on the most dangerous missions of their lives.

Sumi Connock, creative director of formats at BBC Studios, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden the reach of our scripted formats, especially given the international appetite for dramas featuring strong, female characters. The original incarnations of The Split and Our Girl were hugely popular in the U.K., and I see this popularity continuing even further around the world.”
