Liberty Global Reorganizes Swiss, Austrian Operations

VIENNA/ZURICH: Liberty Global is bringing together its operations in Austria and Switzerland, which will be overseen by Eric Tveter, currently the managing director of upc cablecom.

Tveter has been named CEO of the newly created Swiss and Austrian division of Liberty Global, effective August 1. That same date, Thomas Hintze, currently the managing director of UPC Austria, is to become chairman of UPC Austria and senior advisor reporting to Tveter.

Diederik Karsten, the executive VP of Liberty Global’s European broadband operations, said: “Eric Tveter is ideally positioned to take his new role for the Austria/Switzerland region with more than 30 years of experience in the cable industry and a proven track record at Liberty Global. In the course of the last five years, he led the successful turnaround of the Swiss business. UPC Austria is in a stable position today and both operations are poised for further growth.”
