Breaking Bad, Borgen Take Golden Nymph Drama Awards

MONTE CARLO: Winners of the 2013 Golden Nymph Awards, presented in Monte Carlo last night, included AMC’s Breaking Bad as best international drama and DR’s Borgen as best European drama.

In the performance categories, Forbrydelsen‘s (The Killing) Sofie Gråbøl was named outstanding actress, while Bryan Cranston was honored for his work on Breaking Bad.

Modern Family was hailed as best international comedy, with the European prize going to Fresh Meat from the U.K. 30 Rock’s Tina Fey and Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell were named outstanding actress and actor, respectively.

The TV movie winner came from Hungary—RTL Klub’s Aglaja, while best mini-series went to Letter to Eva, from Spain’s TVE. The International TV Audience Awards went to The Mentalist (drama), The Big Bang Theory (comedy) and The Bold and the Beautiful (soap opera/telenovela).

The awards presentation capped off the 53rd Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo. “Our event in 2013 has been exceptional—beginning with a great Opening Ceremony during which Donald Sutherland was presented with the first ever Crystal Nymph Award by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco," said Laurent Puons, CEO of the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo. "We have been very privileged to have such a strong line-up of jury members who have dedicated a great deal of time this week to screening many of the world’s top shows. The winners they have selected are truly outstanding and we congratulate them on their achievement.  We have also been delighted to welcome an array of international stars to join us in Monaco to celebrate the very best in television content.”
