StarzPlay Sets Premiere for Ramy Season Two

StarzPlay is slated to launch the second season of Ramy on the platform in Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. in August.

Season two of Ramy stars creator/writer/producer Ramy Youssef as the titular character who is continuing his spiritual quest. Joining the cast is two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Green Book, True Detective, House of Cards), who plays a sheik who serves as Ramy’s new spiritual mentor. The first-generation, Egyptian-American is on a spiritual journey in his politically-divided New Jersey neighborhood. In the second two, Ramy delves further into this journey, finding a new Muslim community and embracing a deeper commitment to his faith. The new season will bow on StarzPlay on August 6.

Ramy, produced by A24, debuted as the Audience Award Winner at the 2019 SXSW Festival. Earlier this year, Yousseff received a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series—Musical or Comedy, and, more recently the show received a Peabody Award.
