ORF-Enterprise Inks Deals for Wildlife Docs & More at MIPCOM

VIENNA: ORF-Enterprise has landed sales for a range of titles from its slate, including documentaries from its Universum strand and three movies from its Backwoods Crimes film series.

RTL in Germany snapped up a package that includes three movies from the Backwoods Crimes series, all seasons of the show Four Women and a Funeral, the new gardening series GardenCULT and the blue-chip wildlife documentary Garden Wild! from ORF’s Universum strand. Four Women and a Funeral will become available to subscribers of the German platform TV Now.

Amazon Prime in the U.S., U.K. and Japan has added more than 30 new ORF titles to its offering. This includes highlights from ORF’s Universum-branded wildlife and history programs, among other titles. In addition, Maximilian of Mexico will make its linear U.S. premiere on Smithsonian Channel.

The ORF Universum wildlife documentary Vanishing Kings: Lions of the Namib is headed to Thailand (Thai PBS) and Spain (TVE). The Spanish broadcaster also acquired a wildlife package that includes the 4K documentary Making an Ancient Forest, which was also picked by Odisea (Spain).

Mazaj Media in Hungary, meanwhile, went for White Beauty and four seasons of the crime series K-Files.

Sky Arts in New Zealand picked up a new package of music highlights, including The Vienna Symphonic Orchestra’s annual concert Springtime in Vienna, Donizetti’s comic opera L’Elisir d’Amore and George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, performed by Rubén Dubrovsky’s Vienna Bach Consort.

In addition, Canal 22 in Mexico will air Christmas in Vienna 2016, and Sky Arts Germany picked up a music and culture package that includes a documentary and live concert with Eurovision Song Contest 2014 winner Conchita Wurst, as well as three more music documentaries.
