LONDON: Gail Harman, most recently at Tuesday’s Child Television, has been named creative director of development at ITV Studios Entertainment, where Martin Lau joins the team as development executive.

Harman joins Angela Jain’s team to lead the creation of brand-new formats and entertainment shows for a U.K. and international audience. Harman was most recently at Tuesday’s Child Television, where as head of development for entertainment her credits include You’re Back in the Room and For What It’s Worth.

Lau has been appointed to Harman’s team as development executive. Previously, he was senior development producer at Tellycopter, NBCUniversal International Studios’ central unscripted development unit.

Tom McLennan has been promoted to director of entertainment, North, taking responsibility for ITV Studios’ slate of 800 hours of entertainment produced each year in the region, including Judge Rinder, Countdown, University Challenge, The Jeremy Kyle Show and You’ve Been Framed.

Jain, the managing director at ITV Studios Entertainment, said: “This is a terrific department with a phenomenal output. In Gail I believe we have found a creative thinker who can take charge of the next wave of new programs. We are genuinely excited about the impact she will have and look forward to welcoming her to the family.”

She added: “Our ITV Studios team in the North is very important to us and to signal the next wave of growth and leadership we have appointed Tom to an expanded role. His achievements are not just in launching new shows but also setting them up for long-term success. He has been a fantastic ambassador for the North, so this really is the natural next step for him. Along with Martin’s appointment our team is now on its way and well placed for the exciting times ahead.”

Harman said: “ITV Studios is an entertainment powerhouse and I’ve been enjoying their shows as a viewer for years. I’m enormously excited to be joining Angela and her hugely talented team to create new formats that can keep the nation, and audiences further afield, watching.”

McLennan said: “I’m excited about the future of Manchester, we’ve doubled ITV Studios’ entertainment output in the past four years and have some new exciting shows in the pipeline. The team here in Manchester are some of the best in the business and working together we will carry on growing the North West business.”
