British Pathé Launches Digital On-Demand Network

LONDON: British Pathé has launched a new subscription-based digital on-demand channel featuring documentaries, interviews and classic movies.

British Pathé TV is launching with hundreds of hours of programs, many of which have never been seen on TV before. Its history docs highlight areas such as royalty and military. It houses hundreds of hours of content detailing cinema history and a selection of curated classic feature films. There’s a wide selection of railway and train documentaries. Additionally, there is Film of the Season, a brand-new British Pathé co-production that has not yet been seen outside Ireland: Revolution in Colour.

The British Pathé TV service is designed to complement the existing British Pathé newsreel archive, which will remain free-to-view on its separate website and YouTube channels.

Roger Felber, the managing director of British Pathé, said: “We have felt for some time that many viewers are not being catered for by the existing factual channels and that British Pathé, with its well-known name and brand—and with 7 million monthly visitors to our existing free online platforms—is best-placed to launch such a long-form programming channel that can provide a real alternative for those with specialist interests.”
