New Sky Atlantic Comedy to Star Rupert Grint

LONDON: Sky Atlantic has a new comedy coming to its schedule, Sick Note, which will star Rupert Grint, Nick Frost and Don Johnson.

The series is produced by British outfit King Bert. Set to debut in early 2017, the show is created and written by Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz. Sick Note follows the story of Daniel Glass (Grint), a compulsive liar, who’s stuck in a failing relationship and a dead-end job, where he is under the thumb of his irrepressible boss Kenny West (Johnson). And just when things couldn’t get any worse, he’s diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He later finds out he was misdiagnosed by the incompetent oncologist Dr. Ian Glennis (Frost) and must decide whether to come clean or not.

International distribution for the series will be handled by Sky Vision.

Zai Bennett, the director of Sky Atlantic, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the stellar cast of Rupert Grint, Nick Frost and Don Johnson to Sky Atlantic in this smart new original comedy. They join a high-end stable of U.S. hits like Veep and Silicon Valley alongside great original comedy from the likes of Julia Davis and Steve Coogan.”

Jo Sargent, the managing director at King Bert, said: “We are thrilled that we are making Sick Note for Sky Atlantic. Nat and James have done a brilliant job creating an enticing and funny hook and I look forward to our stellar cast bringing their hilarious scripts to life.”
